Changes to Amazon Marketplaces order numbers

Amazon announced today that it would update its order numbering to accommodate increasing sales volume (I believe this excludes Amazon Seller Central and is therefore mostly applicable to media sellers):

Starting in late March, we will begin introducing additional order number prefixes for Amazon.com Marketplace orders. Currently, the first 3 digits of Marketplace order numbers are typically 058. With this change, additional prefixes will begin to surface in your seller account as needed to support increasing order volumes. The length and formatting of the order number will not be changing (17 digits with a dash after the three-digit prefix and also after the tenth digit).

Please ensure that your order management system is able to recognize and process orders that begin with a range of different 3-digit prefixes.

If you have feedback about the new order numbers, please feel free to send it to sya-changes@amazon.com.
