There are significant benefits for both increased revenue (increased buyer trust and search relevance with FBA tag) and reduced costs (low fulfillment costs and “shipping bonus”). Amazon announced this morning that it will open a 600,000 sqf warehouse in Hazleton, Pennsylvania with a projected 1,100 employees by 2011. I have promptly updated my Amazon Fulfillment Google Map with this new site.

My money on the next location is Raleigh, North Carolina. Overnight Super Saver Shipping!

Amazon Enterprise

  • Before WebStore there was Amazon’s enterprise platform, essentially managing a retailer’s e-commerce business and the foundation on which WebStore was built. Not all that well known since this is really only an option for a very small number of large online retailers.
  • Great examples are Marks & Spencer and Target.com.

Speaking of Fulfillment By Amazon, Amazon agreed last week to add a warehouse location in Whitestown, Indiana, with a workforce of possibly over 3,000 full-time and part-time resources. I have added this site to my Amazon Fulfillment Google Map which I hope is still somewhat accurate (hmm, still no significant warehouse in the Southeast …).

Amazon.com said on Monday that it would open a new fulfillment center in Indiana. That follows an announcement earlier this month that it would open a fulfillment center in Kentucky, bringing the total number of Amazon Fulfillment warehouses in the U.S. by my count to 15 (plus 7 in Europe and 4 in Asia).
