Amazon.co.uk updates order notification emails

Oct 8th, 2007 | By Max Leisten | Category: Amazon Announcements, Amazon International

Following a recent change in the U.S., Amazon UK has announced that effective October 22nd it will also be modifying its “sold, dispatch now” email notifications (sent to third-party sellers) to strip all sensitive buyer information.

To protect confidential customer information, and to increase the reliability and security of communications about orders, we will be changing the content of “Sold, dispatch now” e-mails on Monday 22nd October 2007. After the change has gone into effect, the e-mail notifications will contain only the following information:

  • The order ID, date, and time.
  • The SKU, title, condition, and quantity of the items in the order.
  • The sale price, shipping credit, and your earnings for each item.

We will no longer be including information about the buyer, such as the buyer e-mail or shipping address, in the “Sold, dispatch now” e-mails. After the change has gone into effect, it will be necessary for you to use other methods to retrieve this information.

You can still retrieve complete order information (including the all-precious email address) from Seller Central or, via Amazon’s API, your third-party online channel management solution (recommended!).
