Amazon Currency Converter

Nov 23rd, 2007 | By Max Leisten | Category: Amazon Features

Amazon this week rolled out a cool new feature that will make it easier and cheaper for international buyers to purchase products on Amazon.com. The Amazon Currency Converter, at checkout, will offer qualifying consumers from select countries (paying with a MasterCard or Visa credit card) the option to pay in their local currency or in USD. The advantage of paying in your local currency is of course that you will not incur any foreign exchange fees which can be pretty significant.

With Amazon Currency Converter, your purchase total will be converted into your local currency while you’re placing your order. In many cases, your purchase will be less expensive than using your bank or credit card to make the purchase in U.S. Dollars (USD), as we offer a competitive exchange rate that includes any charges or fees related to the conversion.

The currency converter is not supported for gift certificates, items only available for pre-order, items that are out of stock, digital items or 1-click customers. Amazon Address Restrictions

Naturally it is also only available to buyers purchasing products that are eligible to be shipped to the selected international address.

For more information check out Amazon’s Frequently Asked Questions on the new currency converter.
