Changes to “Sold, Ship Now” notifications in effect for Amazon UK and Canada

Feb 12th, 2008 | By Max Leisten | Category: Amazon Features

Heads-up for Amazon 3P sellers: as of today Amazon no longer provides granular order and buyer information in the “Sold, Ship Now” emails in the UK and Canada. Amazon UK writes:

To protect confidential customer information, and to increase the reliability and security of communications about orders, we have changed the content of “Sold, dispatch now” e-mails on Tuesday 12th February 2008. The e-mail notifications now only contain the following information:

* The order ID, date, and time.
* The SKU, title, condition, and quantity of the items in the order.
* The sale price, shipping credit, and your earnings for each item.

We no longer include information about the buyer, such as the buyer e-mail or shipping address, in the “Sold, dispatch now” e-mails. It is now necessary for you to use other methods to retrieve this information.

We have always recommended that merchants use Seller Central to manage orders. You are still be able to use Seller Central to retrieve order information through the Orders Report and the Manage Orders page.

“Sold, dispatch now” e-mails will still notify you of new orders. However, remember to regularly check Seller Central for orders since e-mail can be subject to delivery problems that occur outside of Amazon’s systems.

In addition to the changes described above, if an order contains multiple items or if the buyer selected expedited shipping, we will put that information in the “Sold, dispatch now” subject line.

As Amazon indicates sellers can manage their orders directly in Seller Central or use an integrated solution that gives merchants full access to and control over orders. While there are a few companies that offer this type of integration, I need to highlight of course that ChannelAdvisor gives online retailers the real deal: list products, process orders, cancel sales and refunds (full or partial) to buyers. And thanks to our extensive support of this channel (over four years), we have pretty good experience with getting merchants onto and keeping them Amazon. Send me a note (max.leisten | channeladvisor.com) if you would like to learn more (or have a general Amazon questions).

The announcement to Canadian sellers can be found here.
