Getting images right on Amazon is one of the most important requirements for selling successfully on this channel. A sometimes painful lesson to learn for merchants expanding from eBay to Amazon (note that I didn’t say “migrate” since they each site has its own unique strengths and benefits) where you get away with your products displayed on your pink shaggy carpet in very low light.

Amazon is focused on ensuring a consistent and easy shopping experience that mandates that products are merchandised “clean”. In that spirit they employ an Amazon Global Product Imaging team that encourages merchants to comply with this policy (see below).

Greetings from Amazon.com,

We have received a report from a customer that one of your images was incorrect or failed our image standards. After researching the issue, we have removed the image for B000L1TLPS: Green Dolphin Street 1944, based on the validity or quality of the image.

Your images must meet the following requirements to be posted to the Amazon site:
* The image must be of the product being sold, and must not contain additional objects.
* The image must be in focus, professionally photographed or scanned, with realistic color, and smooth edges.
* Books, Music, and Video/DVD images should be scans of the front cover art, and fill 100% of the image frame. Jewel cases, promotional stickers, and cellophane are not allowed.
* All other products should fill 85% or more of the image frame.
* The full product must be in frame.
* Backgrounds must be pure white (RGB 255,255,255).
* The image must not contain additional text, graphics, or inset images.

Once you have verified that your image meets our criteria, please upload your image through your normal image submission process.

Thank you,

Amazon Global Product Imaging
